Omega Speedmaster Professional served NASA also during the Apollo program to the moon. It has become the first watch worn on the surface of the moon. Let us remember the events happening in April 1970: there was as on-board oxygen tank explosion, as the result of this – the first Apollo mission has been aborted. There was no electrical power in the module. All the on-board computerized timing devices were inoperative, and the commander Jim Lovell used his Omega Speedmaster Professional for both the timing and the interval of thrust for the engine burn as spacecraft rounded the moon and set the course back to Earth.
